Qualcomm is one of the best leading chipmakers which has powered most of the smartphones, laptops and other smart devices. Now Qualcomm has made a step forward and built a dedicated chipset specially engineered for standalone AR and VR headset. Qualcomms’s announced dedicated Snapdragon XR1 for AR and VR headsets .

XR1 will offer you better experience empowering high-quality audio and video playback. As per Qualcomm XR1 will make users stream videos at 4k resolution at up to 60 frames per sec. XR1 just does not support only good quality visuals but also supports 3DoF and 6DoF for tracking a person position but not in 3D. DoF stands for degree of freedom. At the same time spectra, image signal will help to reduce unwanted noise to provide improved audio and video quality.

Qualcomm technology features come with a 3D audio suite, Aqstic and Aptx to provide high-Fidelity. It will not be as strong as Snapdragon 845 Soc, but some of its additional features like XR software, AI engine and Snapdragon XR software development kit and many more which makes it better. XR1 headset is engineered to experience 360 degree 2D videos, simple games, high-end graphics are not supported. For high-end graphics, you still need to rely on Snapdragon 845 SoC as XR1 is not capable of providing high quality. The basic difference we can look in terms of quality is XR1 provides you High-Quality and Snapdragon 845 provides you Premium quality. XR1 is no doubt comes at an affordable price which performs extremely good.

XR1 is for those customers who don’t need premium quality graphics, this is just made perfect for them. We will be soon able to see budget VR and AR standalone headset. Qualcomm has announced companies like Vive, Meta, Vuzix, and pico are already working on budget Vr and AR headset powered by XR1. The first line of product powered by XR1 will be available by 2019.
